Malta at golden hour is a different island. The limestone goes amber, Valletta's bastions light up over the water, and the harbour is the best seat in the country. A sunset charter is the cheapest way into chartering and one of the most memorable, if it is planned like an evening and not like a shortened day.
The shape of a sunset charter
Board late afternoon on the Sliema side. Run the coast while the light is still white, anchor for a swim while the water holds the day's warmth, then take the golden hour slowly: Valletta from the water, St Julian's lighting up, music on. Two to four hours, back after dark. It is the format for birthdays, proposals, and the last night of a trip.
Party charters, honestly
Yes, you can bring the party aboard: your playlist on the boat's system, your bar or ours arranged as catering, and a crew that has hosted a hundred of these and knows exactly when to move the boat so the skyline lands behind the cake. Two honest limits. Licensed guest capacity is a legal number, commonly twelve, and it does not stretch for special occasions. And the captain owns the volume and the anchorage; harbour rules exist and good crews keep you on the right side of them without killing the mood.
What it costs
Sunset and evening slots price below full days, and outside July and August there is real room in the calendar. As of summer 2026 full day rates in the Maltese fleet run 1,500 to 10,900 euros, with shorter evening formats quoted per boat; live rates are on the Malta page.
