Yacht charter Malta
Malta is the shortest run to clear water anywhere in the Mediterranean. You leave the Sliema and St Julian's side of the harbour, and inside forty minutes you are anchored off Comino in the Blue Lagoon, in water that reads turquoise from the deck. Nothing else in the Med gives you that little travel for that much colour, which is why Malta works so well as a single day on the water rather than a week of passages.

We publish day charter prices for the Maltese boats we work with, from €1,500 a day for a small crewed boat up to €10,900 for the largest, and weekly rates for the crewed yachts that cruise Malta as part of a wider Mediterranean season. Malta charges 18 per cent VAT on charters in Maltese waters. Fuel and berthing outside the day are quoted before you commit, never after. Ask for the all in number and you get the all in number, same day in season.

Where you actually go
The reason most people charter here. Roughly forty minutes from the marinas, sand bottom, water the colour of a swimming pool. Go early or go late: between eleven and three in July and August the lagoon is busy, and captains who know the island will move you round to Santa Marija Bay or the Crystal Lagoon caves instead.
The slow option. An hour and a bit north, quieter anchorages at Dwejra and Hondoq ir Rummien, and a lunch ashore in Xlendi or Mgarr if you want to break the day. Best on a boat with real range and shade rather than a small dayboat.
Southeast corner, limestone shelf, deep clear water and no beach crowd. A good call when the northwest wind is up, because the south coast is in the lee and the Comino run would be uncomfortable.
Worth an hour at the end of the day. Valletta's bastions from the water at golden hour are the single best view in the country, and the run back up to Sliema takes you past all of it.

How much does a yacht charter in Malta cost?+
Day charters in our Maltese fleet run from €1,500 to €10,900 for the boat, crewed, for the day. The price depends on size and how many of you there are, not on the date, because most Maltese day rates are flat across the season. Crewed weekly yachts that cruise Malta start at €75,000 per week plus expenses on MYBA terms. Every number on this page is the operator rate we hold, published as it stands.
Do I need a licence to charter in Malta?+
Not for anything on this page. Every boat listed here comes with its own professional crew, so you turn up, board and the captain runs the day. Bareboat charter is a different product and needs a recognised licence plus a local endorsement.
When is the best time to charter in Malta?+
June and September are the sweet spot: sea around 25 degrees, long days, and Comino manageable. July and August are hotter and busier, and the northwest wind can shut down the Comino run on a handful of days, in which case the south coast anchorages are the answer. May and October are still comfortable and noticeably cheaper on the weekly boats.
How long is a charter day, and can we go to Sicily?+
A standard day is eight hours, typically ten in the morning until six in the evening, and most boats will do a half day or a sunset run if you ask. Sicily is a three hour passage each way on a fast boat, so it only works as an overnight or as a leg of a longer itinerary, not as a day trip.
What is VAT and APA on a Maltese charter?+
VAT on charters in Maltese waters is 18 per cent. On a day charter the quote states whether VAT and fuel are inside the rate. On a crewed weekly charter the MYBA base rate covers the yacht and crew, and running costs come out of the Advance Provisioning Allowance, usually 25 to 35 per cent of the fee, accounted for by the captain and refunded if unspent.
Can you charter a yacht in Malta for an event or a party?+
Yes, and it is a large share of what we book here. Birthdays, company days, weddings the day before or the day after. Tell us the number of guests, whether you want the boat moving or anchored, and what you want to eat and drink, and we build it with the captain.
