Yacht charter Athens

HomeFleet › Yacht charter Athens

Athens is the only European capital with a genuine riviera on its doorstep and a real island world an hour beyond it. Out of Alimos or Vouliagmeni the day opens onto the Saronic Gulf: Aegina's temple coast, the channel of Poros, Hydra's carless stone harbour, protected water almost all summer and the gentlest cruising in Greece.

Every rate on this page is the rate we hold: crewed day boats from €1,550 to €5,830 as of this season, and crewed weekly yachts starting from €10,000 a week, the friendliest weekly entry point in our whole fleet. Greece is the value play of the Mediterranean and Athens is its front door.

Greek VAT on charters runs 13 to 24 per cent depending on duration, one of the quiet reasons longer Greek charters price so well; your quote states the exact treatment. The meltemi wind that owns the Cyclades in high summer barely reaches into the Saronic, which keeps the family calendar here honest.

Where you actually go

The Athens Riviera

From Piraeus down to Cape Sounion the coast is one long string of swimming coves, with the Temple of Poseidon standing on the final headland. The sunset run back from Sounion with the temple above is the best closing hour in Greek day chartering.

Aegina and Moni

An hour out, Aegina pairs pistachio orchards and the Aphaia temple with the tiny islet of Moni next door, whose turquoise anchorage does not look like it belongs this close to a capital city. The classic first stop of a Saronic day.

Hydra

No cars, stone mansions around a horseshoe harbour, and donkeys doing the freight. Hydra at golden hour from the water is one of the great arrivals in the Mediterranean, and an overnight here turns a day charter into a small odyssey.

Poros and the channel

The town climbs above a narrow channel that boats thread like a street, cafes on one side, pines on the other. With Russian Bay and Love Bay around the corner for swimming, Poros is the do everything middle stop of the gulf.

Crewed weeks: 44 yachts cruising Athens

These are full week charters on MYBA terms, contracted with the yacht's own management. Athens sits inside a wider Mediterranean itinerary for most of them, so a week can start here and finish somewhere else entirely. Showing the 12 largest of 44.

Athens charter questions

How much does a yacht charter from Athens cost?+

Day charters on the Athens Riviera and into the Saronic run from €1,550 to €5,830 for the boat, crewed, for the day. Crewed weeks in Greece start around €10,000 on MYBA terms plus APA and Greek VAT, which runs 13 to 24 per cent depending on charter duration. Every number is the operator rate we hold.

Which islands can we reach in a day?+

Aegina, Moni and Agistri comfortably; Poros on a faster boat or a long day; Hydra as a full day with an early start or, better, as an overnight. The honest advice is one or two islands done well rather than three done from the deck at speed.

Is Athens good for a first charter?+

It might be the best in Greece: protected water, short hops, no meltemi to speak of, and a capital city's flight schedule behind you. It is also the natural boarding point for Cyclades weeks, so first day charter and first week often both start here.

Do I need a licence?+

No. Everything on this page comes with a professional crew. You board at Alimos or Vouliagmeni and the captain runs the day.

When is the season?+

April to October, longer than the islands. June and September are perfect; even July and August stay comfortable on the water here because the gulf is protected and the evenings cool. Winter charters exist on the bigger boats for the brave and the celebratory.

Can a week start in Athens and end in Mykonos?+

Yes: one way weeks through the Cyclades are the classic Greek itinerary, and the repositioning is arranged in the booking. Athens to Mykonos or Santorini with four islands between them is the poster week of the Aegean.
