Mallorca is the Balearic island for people who love coastline. The west side runs under the Tramuntana mountains, a UNESCO ridge that drops a thousand metres into the sea past Sa Foradada and Cala Deia; the south opens onto the Cabrera archipelago, a national park where the water is protected and looks it. Palma sits in the middle of it all, the best city in the islands to start and end a day on the water.

Spanish VAT of 21 per cent applies in Spanish waters and each listing states its treatment. Cabrera is a national park with daily anchoring and entry limits, so if the park is the plan, say so when you book and we arrange the permit with the operator.

Where you actually go
West out of Palma the mountains take over: Sa Foradada's pierced rock, the terraces of Deia above Cala Deia's swimming cove, Port de Soller as the lunch stop. This is the most dramatic day Mallorca offers and it stays cooler and quieter than the south all summer.
An hour off the south coast, nineteen islets of national park with anchoring limits that keep the water pristine. The Blue Cave and the castle above the harbour are the set pieces; the silence is the real product. Permits are limited daily, which is exactly why it stays this good.
Mainland Mallorca's answer to Formentera: long white sand, shallow turquoise water, and anchorages off Es Trenc and Cala Pi that fill with locals on summer weekends. The right call for swimming days with kids aboard.
The home waters: an easy half day loop past Illetes' coves, Portals Nous and the superyachts at Port Adriano, with the cathedral skyline on the way home. Ideal for sunset charters and first days on a boat.

Is Mallorca better than Ibiza for a charter?+
Different day entirely. Mallorca is coastline, mountains and quiet anchorages; Ibiza is Formentera water and the social calendar. Families and repeat charterers tend to Mallorca, celebration groups tend to Ibiza, and a week aboard covers both. We book both all summer and will tell you honestly which fits your group.
Can we visit Cabrera on a charter?+
Yes, and it is worth planning around. The national park limits daily entries and anchoring, so the permit needs arranging with the booking rather than on the day. A Cabrera day from the south coast marinas is one of the best full days in the Balearics.
Do I need a licence?+
No. Every boat here comes with its own professional crew: you board, the captain runs the day, your group owns the fun parts.
When is the best time to charter in Mallorca?+
May through October all work. June and September are the sweet spot: warm sea, soft light on the Tramuntana, and calendars with room in them. July and August book the Saturdays out first, so peak weekends deserve a month or two of notice.
